>Today my friend, Mrs. Firemom of Stop, Drop & Blog, will be wearing a tutu while participating in BlogHer‘s 5K run at their annual conference in New York City. The 5K Fun Run is not timed and is taking place in Central Park.
Why is Mrs. Firemom wearing a tutu to run 5K in Central Park? To support Tutus for Tanner of course. Tanner is a little boy who is dying from Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Catherine, from Her Bad Mother, is his aunt and is raising funds so her nephew can die at home with his family instead of a hospital setting.
Anyhow, Mrs. Firemom still didn’t have a tutu made 2 weeks before BlogHer. So I volunteered to make one for her. I’ve been making tutus for little girls but haven’t made one for an adult before! I must admit I think it turned out quite nicely. I made it with 4 layers of tulle so it is very very fluffy. The tutu has 2 shades of green tulle, 2 shades of purple tulle plus purple and green ribbons.
I’m not sure if the BlogHer 5K Fun Run will make the news or not. I’m working this morning so I won’t be able to check the various TV morning news shows. But if you are in NYC, look out for lots and lots of women wearing tutus in Central Park this morning!
