>Only the Good – Vacation Bible School

>Are you tired of hearing about all the depressing stuff going on in the world? Frustrated there never seems to be anything positive mentioned in the nightly news? Sick & tired of all the negativity in the world around you? Want some “good”, as in “not negative” in your life? What makes you happy, puts a smile on your face, & makes you jump with joy? Then pop on over to This Eclectic Life for this week’s “Only the Good” posting by Shelly.

Yesterday I spent some time researching various local churches offerings of Vacation Bible School (VBS) for this summer. I’m telling you, VBS is a mom’s best friend in the summer time. I mean, 4 hours where your kid is taken care of for free by trustworthy souls, taught something great about God, played with during rec time, and even fed a snack or sometimes lunch. How awesome is that!

I have already gotten Kiddo registered for 1 week of VBS in June at a Methodist church. I found another week at a Cathlic church but they haven’t posted online registration yet. A church Kiddo went to last year is set for a week in July. Even though we are Southern Baptist, when it comes to VBS, I am non-denominational, just like my mom was. I swear she packed me & my sister off to every single church that offered VBS in a 30 mile radius!

Seriously though, I am truly thankful for Vacation Bible Schools. They reach many kids who have never been inside a church. The many volunteers who so graciously give of their time to teach a group of little kids are special people. I think VBS volunteers will definitely earn extra jewels & crowns in Heaven!  You can read my Fingerprint Friday post last year about VBS.

Vacation Bible School make me happy for many reasons. I have wonderful childhood memories from various VBS, I have enjoyed volunteering over the years at VBS, & I love how much my son has enjoyed VBS this past summer. Here’s to looking forward to another summer of fun times at VBS!
