Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge

I love to read. Nothing shocking there. I have participated in Goodreads yearly Reading Challenge for 5 years now. Goodreads is a website and app that you can track books you’ve read, want to read, or are currently reading.  The really nice thing about the Goodreads Reading Challenge is that YOU set your reading goal. It doesn’t matter how many books you want to read, no one cares if your goal is just 12 books or 300. Just take the time to read a book or two during the year!

Most years I have managed to meet my annual goal. 2013 I was short 30 books from my goal of 125. I was also close to my goal in 2014.  In 2015 I raised my goal in August since I had met my original goal of 80 books by then. I managed to read 106 books in 2015, 6 books over my revised goal of 100 books.

For 2016 my goal is to read 100 books by December 31st. I may revise that number later in the year depending on how my reading goes. There is a widget on the side that shows my 2016 goal as well as my progress towards my goal. The neat thing is ANYTHING you read counts – magazines, kids books, and newspapers.

Do you set reading goals? Or participate in a reading challenge?

  1. I am this year! My goal is to read 50 books, and to pick almost half of them using Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge. I’ve also signed up on Goodreads. It’s going to be a fun year of reading! 🙂

    • Yay! Yes it is. I need to look at the Read Harder Challenge because I tend to read the same style/genres of books all the time. Mixing it up bookwise would be good for me.
