>Geocaching Yesterday

>Yesterday after work, Charlie & I went treasure hunting again. We hadn’t gone geocaching in a few weeks due to hectic schedules for both of us. I must admit I missed the fun of searching for a hidden cache using my iPhone GPS & good old fashioned hide & seek skills.

I’ve been reading The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Geocaching 2nd Edition in what little spare time I have.  So far it has been interesting reading & helpful. It is written by the editors & staff of Geocaching.com  which is the official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site. I also use their super handy dandy Groundspeak iPhone app (only $9.99). Charlie loves to hold my iPhone & watch the blue dot (us) move closer to the buried treasure (red dot).

I’m saving up to purchase a handheld GPS. There is a version just for kids available, the Geomate Jr., which I am exploring for Charlie’s use. I am just concerned that he might out grow it in a year or so. I do want a GPS unit for Hubby & my use as well. That is where the book & internet come in handy for research. There are pre-owned units available for sale in a variety of places as well.

Here is the photo of Charlie holding the cache from yesterday. He was so excited about picking out a toy to keep as well as choosing what toy to leave behind.
