>I have decided that I will try my hand at baking “Florence cakes” one day this week. Florence cakes are a tradition in Hubby’s family. His mom always made them for her youngest daughter (3rd child out of 5 total) Florence. The cakes are usually reserved for a special occasion.
Apparently, there was a favorite dish for each child. Hubby’s (baby) was Fried Potatoes. Drew’s (#4) was stew, Florence (#3)was the cake, Irene (#2) was Stewed Bugs & Onions, and Linda’s (#1) …argh I don’t remember it now!
Drew requested Florence cakes as his groom’s cake at his wedding. All of us (me, Hubby, Kiddo) went over to my SIL’s house last Friday to visit with Florence since she was in town for the wedding. I finally got the recipe for Florence cakes. It is so very easy to make and quite yummy to boot!
I will post the results once I make the cakes.
