Countdown to Africa!

In just a few weeks Dad, Charlie, Katt, JT and I will be headed for South Africa and Kruger National Park! We are all sooooo excited about going!

This is Charlie’s first trip, hopefully of many, to Africa. Africa is one of the places on JT and Katt’s Bucket List of places to visit in their lifetime. Dad and I are more than ready to share our love of the Dark Continent with them. We are going to the granddaddy of animal parks – Kruger National Park (KNP). Kruger is huge and covers a wide variety of terrain. We won’t have enough time to explore the entire park in the week we are there.  This time we will be checking out the middle of KNP staying at Letaba, Orpen and Pretoriuskop camps.

Each camp is unique, with different landscapes and animals that visit that area.  JT is hoping to see elephants up close. I’m hoping to see cheetahs and maybe a leopard. Charlie wants to see lions and elephants. Not sure what Katt wants to see except everything!  Kruger is known for the Big 5 – the 5 most dangerous wild animals to hunt in Africa – Lion, Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard.

While at KNP we are planning on at least 1 night game drive and maybe a guided bush walk. Kruger is for the animals, not people. You are not permitted outside of your vehicle unless on a guided walked, inside a camp or rest stop.

Dad will have his laptop with internet access while we are there so I will try to post a few photos while there. I encourage you to check out the SANPark webcams! There are live feeds posted all over the parks in South Africa, not just Kruger. You can see all sorts of critters up close and personal.
