I don’t remember being in many Christmas Nativity pageants over the years. Which is odd considering how active in church we are and always have been. I remember singing in the children’s choir and musicals as a teenager but not Nativity plays except for one. That was when we lived in Girard, Ohio circa 1976-1979, when I was in 3rd and 4th grade. My parents were missionary church planters and we’d been sent to help a young church struggling to grow.
Apparently I was the “main” angel as I had a crown and not just a halo like the other angels. I think I was the one to say “Hark!” but could be wrong. I don’t remember much about any of this.
My sister, Rachael, is on the right and Julie, the foster child living with us at the time, is on the left. I’m thinking Julie played Mary and Rachael was the Innkeeper’s Wife? Again my memory isn’t the best.
Assorted shephards, maybe the McCorkle boys?
Me playing a homemade harp created from wire hangers and string.
Pinterest has nothing on the creativity of WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) church ladies back then! In case you can’t tell the costumes were homemade as well, probably sewn by my mom.
Were you ever in a Nativity play as a child? Or the Children’s Choir?
