Dole Fruit – product review

Charlie and I love fruit. Hubby, not so much. It is a constant battle with Charlie to encourage the healthy eating of fruit as a snack compared to Goldfish crackers or some other packaged snack food.

Fresh fruit is best of course but a lot harder to toss into the school lunch kit. That is where Dole Fruit comes in to save the day! I have always been a fan of Dole Fruit company and their products. Hubby and I even toured their famous pineapple plantation when we visited Hawaii years ago.

Thanks to BlogHer ’11 this summer I scored some coupons for free Dole Fruit Crisps and Real Fruit Bites at the Expo.

From the Dole website  for Fruit Crisps –

DOLE Fruit Crisps are satisfying bowls of juicy DOLE fruit in a fruit sauce, each with its own crispy, crumbly topping made with whole grain oats and brown sugar. When you are ready to enjoy, simply peel back the lid and sprinkle the topping over the fruit!

Packed in convenient clear cups with easy-to-open, peel-off lids, DOLE Fruit Crisps are a convenient anytime snack.
DOLE Fruit Crisps are delicious room temperature, chilled from the fridge or heated briefly in the microwave (our favorite way to enjoy them!)
I love the Apple Cinnamon and Peach Fruit Crisps. I have not tried the Apple Pear one yet. I much prefer the heated over room temperature. With the oats and brown sugar topping these are perfect for a light breakfast or mid morning snack. Charlie didn’t like these as much but that’s okay. It just means more for me!
Real Fruit Bites are what Charlie likes. These come in 3 flavors as well – Apple, Pineapple and Mango. Charlie prefers the apple and I like apple and pineapple flavors. Hubby even likes the Pineapple Fruit Bites.
From the Dole website –
At 80 calories snacking just got sweeter and healthier with the new Dole Real Fruit Bites. Each bite-size piece is made from real dried fruit chunks, coated with yogurt, and sprinkled with toasted whole grain oats.
I love that each little package is only 80 calories but very filling. The convenience is an added bonus.  I appreciate they come packaged as single servings. Easy to toss into Charlie’s lunch kit or in my purse if running errands.As a busy Mom I admit I don’t always find the time for fresh fruit. Dole makes it simpler for me to incorporate fruit into my diet.

{Disclosure: I received several coupons for free Dole Fruit Crisps and Dole Real Fruit Bites in August. That is the only thing I have received from Dole. The opinions are my own, Charlie’s and Hubby’s.}
