I don’t have a lot of cookbooks. I do not like to cook. The few cookbooks I have are mainly Weight Watchers and recipes from friends and my mom. I KonMarie’d quite a few this past fall.
Previously my cookbooks and recipes were located on my countertop near the oven. I finally got them unpacked last month. The question was where to put them. My microwave is currently occupying the counter space where my cookbooks were originally kept. I needed a new place to store them. I know me and if the cookbooks weren’t readily available then I would not use them. I am trying to make meals more often and eat out less.
Unlike what I normally do, I actually gave this project quite a bit of thought. My dream kitchen includes open shelving on the end of the kitchen counter. So why not try to find something similar for right now? I measured my end cabinet and my widest cookbook. A quick trip to Hobby Lobby, some anchors and screws, and voila! My perfect cookbook storage solution was found.
I am pretty proud of my simple solution. The wire baskets were half off. I already had anchors and screws plus my handy dandy cordless drill. Installation was complicated by 2 dogs and a boy wanting to watch and “help” me. Tom Cat could care less. Having my cookbooks easily accessible has helped me cook more frequently. I still don’t like cooking though.
Nice! I have an Ikea bookcase in my kitchen that I use for cookbooks and library books. When we redo the kitchen I’m going to rip out the (awful) built in desk) and put in a built-in bookcase.

Thank you. A built in bookcase makes tons of sense for your cookbook collection.
