Lemonade Day 2014

This year Charlie’s school participated in National Lemonade Day. The premise is that students learn about business and entrepreneurship by planning and running a lemonade stand. It was held school wide on Saturday during the Community Health Fair.

Overall it is a pretty neat idea. Charlie, Myles and Kent formed a team and had all sorts of grand plans. The boys planned while at school but didn’t bother to include us parents in the planning process. Myles was unable to participate so Luke, Kent’s little brother, was recruited at the last minute. Reality did not match up to the boys ideals but they had fun anyway.

Team LemonHeads had some good marketing ideas. They offered free samples for the first 15 minutes and provided customers a choice of cup sizes and pricing. 50 cents for a small cup and $1 for the large cup. Strawberry and regular lemonade were offered as well.

The boys came up with the idea of putting a “for charity” sign on Luke (kindergartener) and have him walk around the Community Health Fair promoting their lemonade booth.  I loved it!

Some of the booths were super snazzy and all decked out! Others offered fresh fruit additives or different flavors. I was impressed with all the students who participated. They worked hard and put thought into their projects.
