Here is another gem from Mom’s Bible Study days. Celebrating a job well done is something we don’t do enough in our personal life. Or work for that matter. So give yourself a pat on the back!
- publicize the completion of God-given tasks
- participate in a time of celebration
- thank God for His help in completing the job
- dedicate the completed task for God’s purposes
Obviously these were used in Women’s Bible study but the principles still apply, even if you aren’t a Christian. Personally the tasks don’t even have to be God-given to celebrate finishing a project. As a professional procrastinator with tons of UFP (unfinished projects) I celebrate every single stinkin’ time I finish something I started ages ago. I’m talking years in some cases!
Celebration does not have to be fancy. A shout out on social media or text a friend that you finally finished a UFP. Just be sure to support your friends with a hearty “Well Done” when they do the same. Ask a friend to join you in a celebratory cup of coffee or a cupcake! I frequently do the “happy happy joy joy dance” if nobody is around to celebrate with me.
Do you take time to celebrate a job well done? The completion of an unfinished or dragged out project? How do you celebrate little things?
