>I went to the first meeting for the Fall Festival planning committee at Kiddo’s school yesterday. I must admit the Chair is extremely well organized. She was in charge last year & shadowed the previous Chair the year before that.
The meeting went very well. There is lots to get organized in a short amount of time. The Fall Festival is Oct. 24th. Southminster is adding a new component this year, a vendor/craft show called Autumn Bazaar.
Having participated in craft shows off & on over the years, I do have some concerns about this. I know it is a fundraiser for the school but the Fall Festival is only 3 hours, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Getting people to agree to $30 for 3 hours (outside of parents) isn’t going to be easy. Plus it is the season for craft shows & most crafters have already signed up for the shows they are going to do by now. I am tempted to sign up as Coordinator of the Bazaar sub-committee but I’m not sure I have the time.
Weekly meetings are scheduled for Mondays at 9:15am, right when I’m working. I can’t afford to take off work for the meetings & my manager will only rearrange my schedule so many times. I definitely want to be involved but may have to resort to being “behind the scenes” or helping on the day only.
