Last week I picked up a book at HEB just because I had forgotten my Nook and was desperate for something to read between errands and the doctor’s office waiting room. There was not a lot to choose from. I picked Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry thinking it sounded okay. I’m generally more into vampires and werewolves instead of zombies but desperate times and all that. Turns out Patient Zero was a pretty darn good book!
Last Saturday I blogged about reading Patient Zero and how much I was enjoying it. Turns out my friend Denise is reading a YA series by the same author which mentioned Joe Ledger, the main character in Patient Zero. Based on her advice I downloaded Rot and Ruin for reading next. It is the first book in the YA Benny Imura series by Jonthan Maberry.
I started reading Rot and Ruin this week. I stayed up way to late finishing the book on Tuesday and immediately bought the remaining 3 books of the series on my Nook. I also purchased the 2nd Joe Ledger book, The Dragon Factory.
I’ve blown through 3 of the Rot and Ruin books and currently reading the 4th and last book. As I was reading the 3rd book, Flesh & Bone, the timelines of the 2 series clicked for me. Joe Ledger series chronologically takes place prior to the Benny Imura series.
All I an say is that Jonathan Maberry is my new favorite author! I can’t wait to finish reading the other Joe Ledger books and then check out some more Jonathan Maberry books. I am now a zombie convert. I can’t recommend these books enough.
