I am officially going to BlogHer ’12 this summer in NYC!
With everything going on I was not sure I would be able to attend. Let’s face it New York City is expensive plus the cost of the conference, travel, and everything else to boot. I really wanted to go and Hubby was all for me going too.
Then the whole cancer thing caused a shift in plans and priorities.
Hubby found out that BlogHer offers scholarships to the conference. He encouraged me to apply saying that if I got the cost of the conference covered (which includes meals) then we can figure out a way to get me there and the hotel cost covered too.
I am now officially a BlogHer conference volunteer! Yay! I am a Mic Wrangler. That is a fancy smancy title for someone who holds a microphone and runs around the room taking the microphone to people in the session so they can ask questions and be heard. I only have to “work” a session or two each day. I still have plenty of time to attend other sessions for myself.
I am so thankful for this opportunity. I am doubly thankful that Hubby encouraged me to apply and to go. We are using frequent flyer miles for my ticket so I won’t have to stress over flying standby. I’ve book a hotel room but still need to find a roommate to help with the cost.
Overall I am so thrilled to be going. I will get to see my OLF (on line friends) again in person, learn a lot of really cool stuff, have fun, and see NYC.

I’m pretty darn excited about going. I would have never thought to put in for a BlogHership without Hubby’s pushing it. I’ll message Laine about being roomies! I’ve already reserved the room starting that Wed.
Congrats. So happy for you. I wish I could go… but the cost is just not something we can afford right now… Paying for two kids to go to summer camp has priority. I’m so glad that you found a way. I hope that next year I’ll be able to awing one or two blogger conferences… I think it would be such a great learning experiment and fun to meet other bloggers.
Wow! that is indeed a great event to occur, Last year I had attended TRIBAL BLOGS CONFERENCE 2011 in June Minneapolis, MN. These conferences do a lot of good for any budding blogger. I have plans to attend few of them this year too.. will be waiting ofr you to come back and give your inputs!
