I was craving fresh out of the oven bread. I made my mom’s bread recipe over the weekend. Mom made it all the time when we lived in Africa. Butter came in metal tins and once we used it up, Mom put the bread dough in the tins for baking. Many times we ate nothing but fresh hot bread with butter and jam for dinner. One of my favorite memories.
It was good.
Jeanne’s Bread
1/4 C warm water + 1 tbsp. yeast – mix and set aside for 5 mins
1 C milk
1 C water
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. oil
In a large bowl, mix the ingredients together while yeast is fermenting. Add yeast liquid. Slowly add 3 Cups flour while mixing well. Then add 3-4 more cups of flour. Dough should be thick and sticky. Flour hands and countertop. Knead dough 10 minutes. Let rise double, punch down. Knead 7 times and roll out dough. Put in greased pan. Let rise double. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hours.

OH My word! That looks Wonderful!!
