Happy New Year 2014

Welcome to a brand new year! Here’s hoping that 2014 will be better than 2013 was.

A quickie review of 2013 –

Charlie turned 8 and had his party at Lazer Zone

I turned 45

Charlie and I went to South Africa and Kruger National Park with my Dad, Katt, and JT (niece and nephew) for Spring Break. It was an awesome trip. Over Thanksgiving Charlie and I joined Dad in South Africa again.

I barely worked the whole year.

Charlie remains active in Cub Scouts and promoted up a rank to Bear. I am still Cubmaster.

I had professional photos taken of me for my blog.

Much needed repairs on the house were made. It was leveled (almost 4 inches off in 1 corner) and new windows installed. Allison and I took out a half wall and she painted almost every room in the house. New flooring was installed. New A/C unit installed both inside and out.

Charlie updated his room to be more “big kid” and in his favorite colors instead of mine.

We got a new dog, Max. Technically Max is Charlie’s dog and Ruby is mine.

Charlie joined the local swim team, Quail Valley Dolphins and did great. I am so proud of him for trying something new.

In July Charlie and I went to Chicago and BlogHer ’13.

Charlie started the 3rd grade in the fall. His ADHD meds were increased and he is doing better focusing in school. Charlie also started OT for a variety of issues related to his ADHD. He has finally learned to tie his shoes.

We made it through the first anniversary of Robert’s death, his 50th birthday, and our 17th wedding anniversary.

There was a lot of good in 2013 but it was overshadowed by grief and  my depression.

Here’s to 2014 being a year of healing, growth, and fun!

  1. Thank you for the update! I love the professional photos – I’ve never had that done myself, but would like to some day.

    Here’s to a wonderful 2014. Happy New Year! 🙂
