Fingerprint Friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know its true
You’re a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you’re covered with the fingerprints of God

This week I saw God’s fingerprints in the lives of my friends. Kelly, Eddie (her hubby), and their kids, Emily & Nathan were called to the foreign mission field as career missionaries. They were in Jordan for 4.5 months and Kelly was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, this meant the family had to return stateside. She has been given a clean bill of health now but they can’t return to the mission field for 2 years. During this time, Kelly’s dad’s cancer took a turn for the worse. Kelly and her brother, Jim, pretty much took care of their dad 24/7 starting in January. This took Jim away from work in San Antonio and Kelly away from her family in Dallas.

I knew Kelly, Jim, and Eddie in college. I was able to attend the memorial service this past week when their dad went home to his Savior. It was a blessing to see a Godly man honored by friends & family. I saw God’s fingerprints working in Jim’s life as he grew to love his dad more day by day. I saw God’s fingerprints in Kelly and her family’s lives as they handled being apart. I saw God’s fingerprints in allowing Kelly to spend time with her father before he died, something she couldn’t have done in Jordan. I saw how God gave them all strength, courage, and peace throughout this long journey. God was quietly at work in all their lives, putting His fingerprints everywhere as He carried them.
