Family Traditions

I am a huge fan of Family Tradition. I love the sense of history, family, & good memories that doing the same thing every holiday brings me. Growing up my family had certain set traditions for each holiday, just like everyone else did.

When I got married, my mom gave me this book, “Celebrating the Christian Year” for our first Christmas. She wanted me & Hubby to start creating our own unique family traditions, blending favorites from each of our families into a new Family Tradition.

I constantly refer back to this book during the year. I love all the different ideas presented for every holiday during the year – even the ones I didn’t celebrate with any hoopla. Hubby & I are still working at creating specific holiday traditions for our family, specially since Kiddo came along. I love that the book emphasizes my faith & ways to incorporate God in all the holidays, not just Christmas, Easter, & Thanksgiving.

Remember that holidays are, for the most part, based on ancient Holy Days. Holidays are an opportunity to affirm our faith. To remind us of our Heavenly Father & our relationship with Him on a daily basis. To remind us of how God works in our lives, in big & small ways, every single day of the year.
