Everything is a Race!

Charlie is obsessed with NASCAR and racing.  Well, just about anything vehicular to be honest but racing is up at the top.

EVERYTHING is a race to that boy. Putting on seatbelts, who got up first in the morning,  who finishes dinner first (that one I don’t mind), who got to the kitchen first, etc. You get the idea.

Our evening walks are races too. Charlie on his scooter, Ruby and I line up at the starting line. Ruby and I are assigned our Pole Positions.

Once the “race” starts Charlie is providing constant commentary.  Positions are announced as the racers move., just like on SpeedTV.

Ruby is now in 1st place. Mommy is coming up 3rd. Charlie is 2nd coming up into 1st as he passes Ruby.

There are Cautions and Red Flags as well. Usually those are determined by Charlie flinging himself off the scooter into the grass pretending to crash. Or when he and Ruby run into each other accidentally on purpose.

Every single manhole cover is a Pit Stop. While at the Pit Stop Charlie, Ruby and I drink water. Then Charlie changes the tires on his scooter, complete with whrrrrring noises for the air drills, gets gas, and whatever else happens at pit stops.

All in all it makes the evening walk more interesting to say the least.

    • I have to admit it does make walks more fun. It’s a memory I treasure! And can haul out later for embarrassing purposes later. Ha!

  2. That is seriously so stinkin’ cute. We live about 2-3 hours away from the Dover Speedway in Delaware. When the boys are older, we want to take them to see a NASCAR race.

    • Charlie would just die of envy! He’s always asking when we can go to a real race. We toured Charlotte Motor Speedway but haven’t gone to an actual NASCAR race. There is a track in Dallas that Hubby has said we can check out this spring.

  3. What a cutie… I love the pit stops the best!
