Meet Max – our new dog

DSC_2051

Charlie has been wanting a dog for awhile now. One that is his since Ruby is “mine” according to Charlie. So we’ve been looking at dogs off and on for a month now.  Meet Max, our newest family member. We found Max at the Rosenberg Animal Control. He’s approximately 18 – 24 months old.  The shelter says Max is a hound/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix but I think he’s got some Pit Bull in there too. So far Max and Charlie have gotten along pretty well. Ruby and Max (giggle) are getting along too.

Max is definitely high energy and toy driven. His favorite toy is a tennis ball. He also is a chewer so I’m going to pick up a rawhide bone today after the vet visit.

Max has encouraged Ruby to run around and play more too. The exercise is good for her.  DSC_2064

I’ve ordered the doggie DNA test for Max by the way.

    • Ruby is a rescue too. And I could not believe it when Charlie came up with the name Max! I suggested many other boy dog names and he wanted the name Max. Funny enough when I mentioned the names to the 3 Scout guys who I was with Friday setting up the Scout Fair booth, they all immediately got the connection.

  2. Max is fabulous and I love the name! 🙂

  4. Why do they think Rhodesian Ridgeback? He doesn’t have the distinctive mohawk on his back. Can definately see Pit Bull and Hound in the features, maybe some Lab as well.

    • no clue other than head and muzzle shape. The dog groomer at Petsmart thought Visalia. Depending on how diluted the genes are Ridgebacks don’t always have the Mohawk. Different combinations of genes can create some unusual characteristics or even remove known characteristics of breeds.
