“I Hunt Killers”

I discovered this series via Barnes & Noble’s Free Friday program on Nook. I enjoyed the first book so much I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series.

I Hunt Killers, by Barry Lyga, features Jasper Dent (Jazz), his best friend, and girlfriend. In the background is Dear Old Dad, Billy Dent, the most notorious serial killer of the century. Billy had been including Jazz in his crimes; teaching him how to stalk/chose a victim, kill, hide evidence, and more since he was born.

Jazz is determined to not follow his father’s career path, despite what the townsfolk believe.

Jazz and his friends try to solve a local murder leading them to an even bigger discovery. Twists and turns in every chapter. The rest of the books continue expanding the mystery and conclude with a shocking surprise. I had absolutely no inkling that the series would end that way!!

This series is classified as YA. It is definitely on the older end of YA and more appropriate for high school aged kids in my opinion. The books are sort of graphic in describing the violence, torture, and murder scenes.

I enjoyed this series and it’s prequels/novellas so much I have reread them, something I rarely do.
