Hubby Update

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted the latest medical news about Hubby.

In a nut shell, things aren’t going so well. The colon cancer is not responding to chemotherapy. It doesn’t help that chemo is frequently postponed due to Hubby’s low platelets. This past week they were down to 50k. Chemo can not be done below 80k platelets.

We’ve moved into the “Big Guns” of chemo medicines and they aren’t stopping the cancer either. There are 3 new tumors in Hubby’s liver, for a total of 5 now. The tumors have grown as well; now they are 2.5 cm big.

Dr. C has referred Hubby to MD Anderson in the medical center in the hopes Hubby can get into a clinical trial or study. Until then we are trying a mix of drugs, Irinotechan and Cetuximab.  Hubby had really bad reactions to both of those previously so there is a steroid sandwich being added before and after the chemo days.

On the positive side, the tumors aren’t massive. They haven’t invaded any other organs yet, they aren’t causing pain or interfering with movement, activity, etc. Hubby is still working and wants to work.

So that is where things stand for now. Thank you for all the kind words, prayers, and thoughts.

Elizabeth

Bob and Elizabeth, you are in our prayers. Peace as you deal with what all the huge medical world throws at you or with what they cannot do. At times we think they have to have an answer and can fix everything. Your cancer seems to be tough! We will pray that chemo and the Spirit will fight this and give you life.

We miss you, but we certainly understand when you cannot be here. I think Linda and the class are keeping up with needs, but if you need more meals or care, let me know.

    • Thanks for the prayers! I know you’re a true prayer warrior from a long line of prayer warriors. We really should get together sometime soon.
