>Fall Decorating Re- do

>I was so inspired by ThrifyDecorChick‘s wreath that I decided to redo my pathetic door wreath. So off to Hobby Lobby I went. I bought 2 different garlands at 50% off plus some ribbon. I also picked up a wooden pumpkin & 3 tall carmel apple scented candles for the fireplace mantle, also on sale.

I took the old wreath, dismantled it & got out the hot glue gun. I started snipping leaves off the garlands, including the old leaf picks, while the glue gun heated up. Gun in hand, I started gluing the leaves onto the wreath. I mixed the bright & dark colored leaves as best I could along with trying to make it look “fluffy”. I did cover the sides but not the back of the wreath.  I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath & made a bow. Voila! Not quite as nice as Sarah’s but I like it.

I also took the leftovers from the old wreath & made a little centerpiece for my kitchen table. It is in an heirloom antique milk pitcher my grandmother gave me.

I put the pumpkin along with the candles on fireplace mantle. I have a wrought iron Longaberger candle holder for them. My fireplace is huge & on an angle in the corner of the den. I plan of adding some of the leftover garland to add some additional color & depth. I really need to look at ThriftyDecorChick’s blog again for information on painting the metal on the fireplace.  I’ll post pictures once I get it finished.
